Dust Warfare Podcast

Terry and I have decided to dip our toes into the Podcast arena and have recorded our first Warfare Podcast episode. The intention of the Podcast is to create further interest in the Dust universe and record our journey in modeling, gaming and painting all things Dust and adapted WWII vehicles. Drop by and have a listen if interested.

Vassily Grossman and the SSU LRDG

Vassily Grossman leds his first raid in Iraq 1947

Small platoon of Spetsnaz troops carried in Gaz trucks

Heavy support is provided by an automatic mortar based on a 3 axle Gaz truck

Vassily leads his 4 Gaz jeeps over the treacherous terrain

One of two BA64 armoured cars, this one carries two 12.7mm HMGs

The other BS64 carries only one 12.7mm HMG but there is room for more ammo

Automatic mortar ready to fire on the directions of Vassily over the radio

BA64s lead the attack against the sleepy Allied garrison

Jeeps and armoured cars sweep past the jet aircraft destroying them with 12.7mm rounds

Truck mounted infantry follow the BA64s and jeeps but there are no enemy left to fight

SSU LRDG force

Just posting some photos of my SSU LRDG force that I have been working on whilst waiting for the belated Dust Babylon Kickstarter. The kits are all 1/48 ones from Tamiya except for the 3 axle truck with automatic mortar launcher which is a Unimodel model. I love the Tamiya models which are cheap and very easy to put together unlike the Unimodel ones. Vehicle clutter etc. are a mix of plastic and resin with the most usefull being two Black Dog LRDG resin kits, a little expensive but worth it. The figures are all Dust models with some resin heads with arab headress from a Polish company. The legs are Tamiya from the truck models with the upper torso of SSU models cut cleanly with my trusty Dremel with saw fitting. I need to weather and add battle damage and then they are done.

Two photos of the vehicles without any added decals

Vehicles in line abreast after decals have been added but awaiting weathering andbattle  damage.

My favourite on the left, the heavy SSU truck with automatic mortar launcher. The        launcher tubes are extras from the airdropped KV walker based upon a cutdown 1/35 quad German 20mm Tamiya model.

British walker and APC for Operation Babylon

The first of my 4 British walkers and APCs for operation Babylon. The turret comes from a Tamiya Crusader kit as does the chassis of the APC.
